As part of the project for ‘(KSP-CAF Joint Consulting) Improving the Quality and Productivity of TVET in Colombia’, the Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) conducted final dissemination workshops in Bogota, Medellin (Antioquia) and Barranquilla (Atlantico), Colombia, from January 25st to January 29th in 2016, with Korean experts in the fields of energy and logistics industries and TVET.

The final dissemination workshops were held in Bogota, the capital of Colombia, and also in each pilot regions (Medellin in Antioquia and Barranquilla in Atlantico) to attain the purpose of main task of this project, ‘Sharing the result of this project and building capacity of local stakeholders by holding a final dissemination workshop’. In the final dissemination workshops, the Korean experts shared the challenges of the existing human development system, policy recommendations and relevant best practices of Korea at the national and regional level with participants from CAF Bogota office, Colombian central and regional government, TVET institutions and two industries.

During these final dissemination workshops in Bogota, Medellin and Barranquilla, more than 20 participants from the relevant sectors in each region joined in the workshop and had an extensive Q&A session about Korea’s best practices and policy recommendations for improvement of the Colombian human development system. Considering that companies and universities play the active role rather than the government in enhancing the quality of Colombian human resources, they deeply discussed about what Colombian private stakeholders can do and how they boost government involvement in improving industrial productivity by solving the mismatch between demand and supply of technical manpower at the regional level.

** Korea Institute for Developing Strategy(KDS), from August 2015 to January 2016, with targeted industries(energy and logistics) in two pilot regions(Atlantico and Antioquia), conducted the project for ‘Improving the Quality and Productivity of TVET in Colombia’ which is commissioned by Korea Eximbank with the purpose of increasing productivity and competitiveness of local industry clusters and reducing the gap between the labor demand and supply in major industries of Colombia.
