Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) conducted the ‘2nd Training and Consulting’ regarding Registration Census and Utilization of Advanced Statistics (Big Data Analysis), the main themes of the project, for 10 days (11.22~12.1) in Quito, Ecuador as part of the “KOSTAT Project 2016: Strengthening the Capacity of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of Ecuador”. Also, the Project Completion Ceremony was held on December 14th in Quito to share outcomes and achievements of the project and to draw continuous attention from the stakeholders.

 

The total of 20 policymakers and practitioners from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) participated in the ‘2nd Training and Consulting’. This 2nd in-country consulting focused on examining the influence by the project on development and efficient management of INEC after the ‘1st in-country consulting’ conducted in August and ‘Invitational Training’ taken place in Korea in October.

 

The educational contents and curriculum were developed based on the ‘1st in-country consulting’, which was performed in August, and on addressed needs identified through constant communication with the primary actors. Each training session was very interactive as every participant passionately asked questions, tried hard to understand what was being taught, and took an active part in the discussions.

 

The Project Completion Ceremony in Ecuador opened with presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ecuador, Jorge Garcia, the Acting Executive Director of INEC, Chang Sang Cho, Director General for Planning and Cooperation of Statistics Korea (KOSTAT), experts of statistics, and other significant officials from KOSTAT and INEC. Presenting the contents and outcomes of the project and sharing the accomplishment, all the participants celebrated the successful closing of the project.


**With this, KDS has successfully completed every step of the KOSTAT Project 2016 starting from the Kick-off Meeting in July, to field research, two times of in-country consulting, in-country training, Invitational Training in Korea, and to Completion Ceremony in December.
