KDS kick-off team (Mr. Changuk AN, Ms. Yaya KIM, Mr. Hyeunjae KIM) visited Hanoi, Vietnam from Jan 28 to Feb 4 2018 for “Promoting Investment Market for Energy Efficiency in Industrial Sector in Vietnam (hereinafter referred to as the Project)”, a KOICA-funded project run by a consortium of 4 (Korea Energy Agency, Energy Management Technology Ltd., Ernest&Young Korea, and KDS) in which KDS manages project performance.


The Project (USD 1.6 million), which commenced in Dec 15 2017, aims at contributing to energy saving in Vietnam through 3 components: ‘capacity building targeting officials/technical staff in energy efficiency sector’, ‘support for energy efficiency project identification’, and ‘support for investment attraction to energy efficiency projects’. Additionally, KDS plans to cooperate with local performance management firm for higher effect of the Project.

During the visit, KDS kick-off team discussed detailed project plan and schedule with major stakeholders including Ministry of Investment and Trade (MOIT), Vietnam, World Bank (WB) Vietnam Office, People’s Committee of Bac Ninh Province. MOIT, the local counterpart of the Project, pledged intimate cooperation in this project by forming project management unit and providing relevant data. Also, the kick-off team paved the way for ideal project implementation by discussing project management plan with local project management firm and attending WB ESCO Workshop.


**Steering Committee and Technical Committee will be formed once the Project is approved by the Government of Vietnam, which represents the formal commencement of the Project in Vietnam. Moreover, invitational trainings targeting officials/technical staff in energy efficiency sector in Vietnam and performance/knowledge-sharing seminar are scheduled on the 2nd Quarter of 2018.
