Korea Institute for Development Strategy(KDS) (Korea Rural Economic Institute(KREI) consortium), under the supervision of the Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA), is conducting an evaluation project named [Post-evaluation of Forest Sector Capacity Development Projects in Myanmar and Indonesia]. A KDS team (Dr. Minho Lee, Ms. Eunji Ju) was dispatched to Jakarta and Lombok, Indonesia during 22nd-28th July.

Forest conversion and degradation are continuously happening in a number of developing countries including Myanmar and Indonesia. As climate change is being accelerated, KOICA has kept its pace with global movements by adopting new mechanisms such as A/R CDM and REDD+ into their ODA programs. Hence, this Post-evaluation Project is very meaningful in terms of conducting the overall assessment of KOICA's forestry projects and propose directions of Korea's forestry-related ODA in the future.

The dispatched team visited the Project sites in Lombok, Indonesia - 'West Nusa Tenggara, Lombok Timur, Jerowaru, Sekaroh' and 'West Nusa Tenggara, Lombok Tenga, Batukliang'. Under the purpose of i) investigating the Project's outcomes and ii) drawing lessons that can be adopted to similar projects in the future, the team evaluated the Project's relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, impact and sustainability and figured out local residents' needs through public official and beneficiary interviews.

**KDS will analyze the data from this field research and the results will be presented at the Workshop in Indonesia in October. KDS will highly contribute to the upcoming KOICA’s forestry-related projects in terms of reflecting the lessons and needs deduced from this Post-evaluation to the future projects.
