KDS team (Team manager of Sustainable Development Team, Ya Ya Kim and Program Officer, Hannah Park) visited Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to carry out a project, “Promoting Investment Market for Energy Efficiency in industry in Vietnam” from September 31 to October 2, 2019. During the visit to Vietnam, KDS participated in the 2nd conference on development of Energy Efficiency Project and conducted base-line and end-line surveys.

The conference was held at the Majestic Hotel on October 1, with a total of 62 participants including the director general and the deputy director of MOIT (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the country director and deputy director of KOICA Vietnam, key stakeholders, industrial stakeholders in Vietnam, press, etc. At the conference, attendees were highly interested in promoting the investment market of Energy Efficiency (EE). The one-day conference was consisted of opening speeches by the director general of MOIT as well as the country director of KOICA Vietnam followed by introductions on the progress of project, EE funding in Vietnam, EE investment case in Korea and Vietnam, and a Q&A session that showed attendees’ attention. In particular, at the conference, the KDS team with a performance management partner (RCEE-NIRAS) conducted a survey by distributing survey forms to attendees to assess awareness improvements on EE such as necessity and effectiveness of Energy Audit, EE solution and Technology, EE investment model based on ESCO, and financing source and procedure for investment in EE.

The team also had meetings to do a final check-up on conducting the survey and discuss implementation of additional surveys and result analysis with RCEE-NIRAS before/after the conference. This conference and performance management activities are expected to act as a growth engine to promote the project.

***KDS plans to present a final performance management report based on the analysis of survey results at a conference which will be held in December.
