Since Indonesia is one of the most important partners in development co-operation, the Korean government recently concluded the final draft of the Country Partnership Strategy for Indonesia (CPS). Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), taking in charge of grant aid program, needs a practical operational plan of grant aid program for the next few years in which specific projects and sub-programs are identified and programmed in a coherent and inclusive manner. Under the umbrella of the CPS framework of which core sectors are (1) Information and Telecommunications Technology (ICT) and Public Administration; (2) Environment and Water Resources; and (3) Economic Infrastructure. Entrusted by the KOICA, the Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) organized the Project Team composed of Korean experts with professional capability and field-experience at each sector for identifying promising developmental projects and projecting the optimum operational plan of grant aid and technical cooperation. The Team has been undertaking the domestic research and survey since mid November, 2011. And the Team is planning to have a field study from December 8th and will produce a tentative proposal for KOICA’s program for the coming years by 2015 in line with the immediate development needs of Indonesia as well as comparative strength in Korea’s economic development and international cooperation. The Project Team is planning to hold a workshop in Jakarta late December, receiving comments and opinion of the stakeholders and interested group. Based on the basic survey and discussion this December, the Team will conduct a review returning home in Korea and developing the tentative proposal. Then having a supplementary field survey and consultation in Jakarta next February in 2012, the Team will present the proposed detailed Program of KOICA’s development cooperation for the year 2012-2015 no later than in March, 2012 The Study Project of Programming KOICA’s Development Program for Indonesia is to promote economic co-operation as well as to boost development cooperation with Indonesia through the Official Development Assistance (ODA) program.
