Title: Interim Reporting & Policy Practitioners’ Workshop for 2012 KSP with Gabon

Introduction
The Gabonese delegation headed by Eugene William Messan, first Assistant Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited Korea from the 4th to 12th of November to participate in the Policy Practitioners’ Workshop and the Interim Reporting Session. This is the second visit of the Gabonese delegation after the first visit in October 2011 as part of the 2011 KSP with Gabon. On the first day of the workshop, the delegation visited the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and signed the MOU for 2012 KSP with Gabon.
From the second day, the delegation visited relevant institutions such as the Small Business Training Inistiute, Hanyang University ERICA Campus, Daedeok Innopolis, Chungnam Techno Park, Korea Rural Community Cooperation, and National Institute of Crop Science; the delegation was able to learn Korea’s development experiences in agriculture, ICT, and SME sectors. For the tourism sector, the delegation had an opportunity to visit DMZ and learn what role has the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization played to develop the area. During the workshop, Mr. Messan and Ms. Missambo separately visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and met with the director of the African and Middle Eastern Affairs Bureau to discuss further cooperation between Gabon and Korea.
On the 9th of November, the Interim Reporting session was conducted to check the progress of the research and have discussions on the outcomes thus far. The Gabonese delegations prepared presentations and shared Gabonese perspective and vision on development of each sector. On the other hand, the Korean experts’ presentations were focused on Korea’s development experiences; based on these experiences, the Korean experts made policy recommendations. The reporting session was joined by Gabonese Ambssador Boungou and First Counsellor Hygnanga, and their participation in discussion made the session more fruitful.
