The project team from the Korea Institute for Development Strategy and the Korean Institute of Industrial Technology visited Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from January 18 to 24 as part of the project “Pre-Feasibility Study for Textile Industry Development of Ethiopia,” organized by the Korea Institute for the Advancement of Technology. The team held high-level meetings and workshops and visited relevant sites.


More than 30 participants, including Dr. Mebratu Melese, state minister of the Ethiopian Ministry of Industry, Fassil Taddesse, representative of the Ethiopia Textile and Garment Manufacturers’ Association, and Whasik Min, vice president of the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology, had an in-depth discussion of the feasibility and planning of the project team’s proposal for the textile techno-park. The proposal was widely endorsed and the Ministry of Industry expressed its intention to further bilateral cooperation.


The “Pre-Feasibility Study for Textile Industry Development of Ethiopia” project was designed to identify potential projects for the Korea-Ethiopia industrial cooperation and is set for 8 months, from July 2014 to February 2015.
