As part of ‘(KSP-CAF Joint Consulting) Improving the Quality and Productivity of TVET in Colombia’, the Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) conducted an inception workshop and field survey in Bogota, Medellin(Antioquia) and Barranquilla(Atlantico), Colombia, from August 31st through September 4th in 2015, with Korean experts in the fields of energy and logistics industries and TVET system.


The purposes of the inception workshop and the field survey were to introduce Korea’s experience in developing energy and logistics industries and TVET system to Colombian policy makers and public and private actors in the relevant sectors and to investigate the current status, challenges and strategies of labor demand and supply in the energy and logistics industries and TVET system of Colombia, in order to reflect the opinions of the local stakeholders of this project.


With more than 20 policy-makers from eight organizations in public and private sector of Colombia, in the inception workshop, there were plenty of questions and answers about the Korea’s development experience in the relevant fields. And a plenty of information on the current status and development strategies of energy and logistics industries and TVET system in Colombia were shared by having interviews and meetings with more than 25 public and private institutes in the pilot regions (Medellin in Antioquia and Barranquilla in Atlantico) and Bogota, Colombia.



** Korea Institute for Developing Strategy(KDS), from August to November 2015, with targeted industries(energy and logistics) in two pilot regions(Atlantico and Antioquia), conducts the project of ‘Improving the Quality and Productivity of TVET in Colombia’ which is ordered by Korea Eximbank with the purpose of increasing productivity and competitiveness of local industry cluster and reducing the gap between the labor demand and supply in major industries of Colombia.
