From April 16 to May 1, 2009, 15 government officials from Cote d'Ivoire, including Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Commerce, and Ministry of Economy and Finance, were invited and participated in the training programme of KDS(sponsored by KOICA)named 'Economic Development Strategies Cote d'Ivoire' Various activities including lectures, workshop, study visits and field trip were provided. The purpose of this training programme was (1) to expose Cote d'Ivoire participants to the various sectoral strategies for economic development by sharing Korea's regarding knowledge, (2) to strengthen technical knowledge and capacity of participants(government) in policy planning and management of economic development, and additionally (3) to explore future collaboration opportunities on economic development policy issues between Korea and Cote d'Ivoire. The lectures were provided on the topics as follows, other than national economic development strategies: SME, institution building, HRD, trade, agricultural marketing, and rural development. Field trips and study visits were also arranged to many places including Gumi National Industrial Complex, Hyundai Heavy Industries, and POSCO. As the conclusion of the programme, Cote d'Ivoire officials had a workshop session where they drew up policy plans to apply what they learnt during the training. Through their active participation, the participants expressed keen interest in development of SME and agricultural sector, as well as enhancing cooperation with Korea for the country's economic development. The officials from different ministries were appreciative of the the opportunity to gather together and discuss the issues of common interest, so as to secure stronger collboration and synergy on the way towards the national prosperity.
