Three teams of experts from KDS and UNECA conducted a field mission to the 6-7 main SADC countries in Africa, namely DRC, Zambia, South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania and Namibia. (2009.7.26 - 8.12) This field mission was to identify and establish focal points in line ministries of infrastructure and energy as well as investment promotion centers in Africa , as well as to obtain the information of projects in the soft and hard pipeline. The first dispatched team to DRC shared the lessons learned and brainstormed the strategy in the workshop with the two other teams that afterwards joined. In cooperation with UNECA, interviews with ministers were possible. Surveys, interviews and forums were also conducted from the help of the embassies of Korea in visited countries. In terms of establishing focal points, providing project information, and identifying new financing modalities, active cooperation from regarding institutes/ agencies was promised, as well as with the support at the ministerial level secured in some countries thanks to the collaboration of UNECA. The project information gathered and network built through the mission will be tapped into the future Korea-Africa Investment conference on Infrastructure and Energy Development in Korea.
