The Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) conducted a field research in Panama City from August 18th to August 27th in 2013, as a part of the research for the 2013 Korea Eximbank-CAF Joint KSP with Panama.
The purpose of the research was to identify the status and challenges of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system in the nation and respective industries including logistics, tourism, and agriculture.
During the field survey, the research team visited public and private TVET institutes in the nation and industries to investigate status of TVET programs. And, it also visited chambers by industries to identify the supply and demand of workforce in Panama’s labor market. Therefore, the teams pointed out some challenges of Panama’s TVET system from the results of the field survey and provided some suggestions for improvement.
