The Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) dispatched five experts to perform result-based management service of a KOICA Project, ‘The Project of Improving The Agricultural Productivity In The Highland Through The Mechanization and Capacity Building of Farmers, Bolivia’ to Oruro and Potosi in August and September, 2015. The KDS team consisted of five experts: a project manager, a local project manager, a performance manager, and agriculture and agricultural-mechanic specialists.


Through several meetings with Bolivian steering committee(MDRyT, VDRA, INIAF, KOICA) and technical committee(VDRA, FAO, KOICA), KDS identified the understanding and competence of Bolivian key stakeholders of this project, and noticed government’s will for funding and enforcement.


This project’s goals are to: 1. contribute to raising the income of the producers of Quinua in Oruro and Potosi through improved efficiency in the processes of planting, harvesting and post harvest of Quinua 2. Strengthen the technological capability for the development of agricultural technology 3. Implement the mechanization in the pilot stages of production, harvesting, post-harvest processing 4. Dissemination of new agricultural technology acquired for the production of Quinua.


Furthermore, KDS had the indepth interviews with the international aid agencies such as JICA, GIZ for the country study which was aimed at understanding the current situation of agriculture and rural development in Bolivia. The country study is supposed to excavate the idea for Bolivia Country Partnership Strategy.



* KDS in consortium with the Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) is carrying out the KOICA Project, ‘Integral Result-Based Management Service for Rural Development Projects in the Latin American Region*' from Dec. 2014 to Feb. 2017.

 

'Integral Result-Based Management Service for Rural Development Projects in the Latin American Region' is aimed at verifying the effectiveness and increasing the quality of the ongoing agricultural projects of KOICA in Latin American countries; i) To secure the consistency in the process of agricultural development projects in Latin American countries; ii) To create a synergy effect by sharing the knowledge and experience of each project, and increase the overall quality of the agricultural development projects in Latin American countries
