The completion ceremony for the Project: ‘Capacity Building Program for e-Government in Nigeria’ and the Hand-over ceremony for the new e-Government Training Center took place on 15th November, 2019 at e-Government Training Center(ETC) in Public Institute of Nigeria(PSIN), Abuja, Nigeria.
The honored guests, the Ambassad or of the Republic of Korea, Maj. Gen. Lee In-tae; the Country Director of KOICA Nigeria Office, Mr. Woochan Chang; the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami; the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr. Musa Istifanus and Administrator of Public Service Institute of Nigeria, Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo attended the ceremony with 300 guests.
Since 2013, the project for the Capacity Building of e-Government in Nigeria has so far been implemented over a period of 6 years. The major objective is to support the Nigerian government for the capacity building of their e-Government, to assist the Nigerian government in setting up e-Government policies and improving the efficiency and transparency of the delivering public administrative services through ICT.
Since the launching of the capacity building program, a total of 1,833 officials from over 152 ministries, departments and agencies of Nigeria have been trained throughout 8 rounds of in-country ICT entry level of the capacity building program; the 5 rounds of the Project Planning and Development Training of the intermediate and advanced level respectively; and the pilot training fostered by ToT program.
The e-Government Training Center is situated on the first floor of Amal Pepple Building at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria. The renovated building houses an Auditorium with a 100 seater capacity, a conference room, a computer room, a lecture room, a vision room, a cafeteria, and a control room. The Auditorium was named after the Pioneer Project manager, the Vice President of KDS, Dr. Jeong Kuk Hwan, who passed away early last year during the project implementation.
The ETC has also been provided with a 250 KVA standby generator for 24 hours power supply and a bus for trainees donated by KOICA.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy applauded the Korea Government and the people of Korea for the support rendered to the Federal Government of Nigeria by presenting an appreciation plaque. He urged the instructors and operators of the ETC to expand e-Government training to all MDAs and roll down to the states and to take good care of the facilities that have been provided by KOICA.
