KOREA International Cooperation Agency (Koica)'s project, carried out by the Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) and the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Cooperative (Kamico), achieved notable success in the Philippines Agricultural Machinery Modernization Center Establishment and Capacity Building project ($5.78 million).

Out of 10 researchers, 7 passed the highest level of certification exam in the field of 3D (three-dimensional) simulation.

The project, running from 2021 to 2027, aimed to develop and supply agricultural machinery adjustable to the Philippines. In collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, the project focused on constructing and equipping the Agricultural Machinery Design and Prototyping Center (AMDPC) under the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), enhancing the capability of agricultural mechanization.

A total of 10 researchers have received advanced training from Korean experts since April. Their success in the 3D simulation exam demonstrated significant progress in building local capabilities in machinery development and manufacturing. As a result, the project achieved an exceeding 70-percent pass rate along with a perfect scorer, Lore Joy Alarcio.

PHilMech Director Dionisio Alvindia credited the achievement to the expertise of Korean partners and the dedication of the researchers. He emphasized ongoing support for current capacity building to modernize Philippine agriculture further.

The researchers planned to apply their newly acquired skills to their agricultural machinery development and share their knowledge through training programs at AMDPC, aiming to boost the country's agricultural machinery capabilities.

KDS and Kamico would continue providing support to ensure the effective implementation of these applications in the field.
