Viet Nam is highly vulnerable to climate change and natural disasters. According to the Global Climate Risk Index (CRI) released by Germanwatch, Viet Nam is the 13th most climate-risk country in the world among 180 countries. At the same time, it is difficult to provide high-quality climate information services due to the lack of climate adaptation infrastructure and the inability to accurately forecast climate risks. In addition, the central and local governments' adaptation strategies to climate change are insufficient and the capabilities of related public officials are insufficient. As a result, it is difficult to adapt and manage climate change. Also, for the lack of awareness of local residents, the overall climate resilience is weak due to the low preparedness of the local community to adapt to climate change. In order for Viet Nam to reduce social and economic damage and risks from climate change and ensure public safety, it is necessary to accurately identify the country's major climate risk factors, strengthen the government's institutional capacity to adapt and manage climate change, and increase public participation. It is urgent to elicit and improve regional contrast. |
